The best $50 I’ve probably ever spent
Posted by: Laura on April 11th, 2008
Or maybe not…It could just be the greatest $50 I’ve spent in the past 5 years, but still, that’s a bold statement!
So yesterday our power was out (for 22 1/2 hrs!!!) due to some major storms in our area. We toughed it out because it was a beautiful day, and we were able to stay here and not completely fry.* There was one problem though. How was I going to pump? I’ve been doing this in the mornings, so we can give Lennon bottles before bed and at night, so we all can sleep more. I totally panicked and started calling around places to see if I could buy a battery pack. No dice. So, I bit the bullet, went to Target, and bought a hand pump, with the idea that I could return it if it was really horrible. Well, it is FAR from horrible. In fact, I’m irritated with myself that I never gave the hand pump a chance until now. I had no idea how great this device was! It’s so much better, easier and faster to me than the electric pump I’ve been using.
Here’s the little beauty-The Avent ISIS Handheld Breast Pump!
After I review the Aimee Nursing Gown (another fave), I am officially DONE talking any more about breasts!
*This weather will last about 2 weeks, then summer will hit.

After 3 kids, breastfeeding and working, the Isis hand pump remains my favorite. I only wish they’d come out with their double electric one earlier!

That pump is MAGIC! I started with a wonderful expensive electric and yet that blessed Isis was by far the better of the products. Good for you for finding it so quickly.

Wow thanks for the review! Despite the fact that I have been nursing my sixteen and a half month old I have only pumped three times. Once to relieve engorgement and once again when I went to my best friend’s bridal shower! Next baby I want to pump some bottles so hubby can feed the baby because I’m sure Anna will still be mommy’s little girl! Plus I’m sure Anna will want to feed baby, too. I’m still going to nurse all of my babies until they are 2 no matter how busy life gets. This will make it much easier with successive children. Thanks!

I have none of the pumping experience. I finally sold my medela superfancydeluxe when I came to the realization that it is unlikely I’ll have a new nursling anytime soon.

I have a car adapter for my Pump N Style. I’ve only had to use it twice, but the option is there.
But I often wonder…hmmm…do you think I could pump and drive?

I’m so glad to read this review! We just did our baby registry today, and I had forgotten to do any research on pumps, but this one looked good to me:)
Glad to know it’s a good one!

We lost power at my job one day ALL DAY and we still had to work…luckily I had just finished BFing…don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t!!

I had this on my wish list but unfortunately my wee-one didn’t like nursing…neither did I really so we never got to use it. But more power to the women that can do it!
