I’ve been a regular at T.J. Maxx for years now. There are two locations in my town and it’s a good idea to hit them often since stock changes so quickly. But just because the bargains fly fast and furious doesn’t mean you won’t find good stuff on a regular basis. I love finding brand name stuff at almost absurd discounts, it makes me feel frugal even when I’m going overboard…thankfully, T.J. Maxx merchandise runs the gamut from clothing for all ages to home decor, bath and beauty products, luxury jewelry and accessories, kitchenware, toys and books, even gourmet pantry items! Unlike other discount retailers, most of the items are simply overstocked and are on-trend and in-season.

Lucky me! I was given $50 to spend at T.J. Maxx and it wasn’t hard to find things I wanted. I saw a Tokidoki laptop case, DKNY and Calvin Klein clothing for the kids, hiking socks for Bob, shoes galore. In the end, I went the selfish route and decided to buy luxury bath products and a pair of classic pumps. I was so thrilled to splurge- fancy body lotions and soap are not usually part of my budget.

Nine West high heels, Nars bath salts and lotion ($75 and $40 on their website!), Korres lotion ($15!) and a gigantic bar of Bliss Spa soap ($18!) for under fifty dollars is pretty darned good. (And, yes, I did buy more that did not get photographed. You know I can’t resist a good deal…)
I highly recommend perusing the wares at T.J. Maxx (or their sister store, Marshall’s, which apparently has an even more extensive shoe collection. Squee!) often. Are you up for some shopping this Labor Day weekend?

We love finding unique companies with a keen eye for children’s clothing. We happened to stumble upon a company that carries interesting, cool, fun, and eye-catching duds for your little ones. It always makes my day when people ask, “Wow, where did you find that??” Invisible Stripes is just one of those special companies that caters to parents like us, that want their children to stand out from the crowd. In their own words, Invisible stripes is a lifestyle boutique that carries street inspired contemporary clothing (and they do have a men’s & women’s line too!).
Invisible Stripes carries hip onesies & shoes for infants, and outerwear & t-shirts for the tots. Noel is the proud recipient of Cheshire Toddler. This
cool cat puts on his blue stripes when he’s in contact with sunlight! I had no idea that the shirt changed colors until I took him outside. It’s adorable and always catches people’s eyes when they see it change from no stripes to stripes right before their very eyes (and it’s not anything like a hypercolor shirt
). Lennon’s “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” shirt is actually 3-D and came with an old school pair of 3-D glasses! Both of my little guys look so cute in their Invisible Stripes shirts, and there are many more styles to choose from, that are perfect for gals & guys of any little age. I’m particularly smitten with “Bird Flu” & “Hungry“, and they also have the super popular Lumberjack T’s!
Wouldn’t you LOVE one of these super cool shirts for your hip kid? WIN IT! Win a t-shirt + 2 50% off coupons (to give to friends (or to keep for yourself!) Visit the Invisible Stripes website & tell us your favorite style. ENTER HERE! Contest ends September 15, 2009 at 10 PM. For a 2nd entry, tweet me, and tell me that you’re following Invisible Stripes on Twitter as well!

Aden & Anais is a favorite around these parts. My youngest son has his in bed with him right now. Not only did it provide a great swaddling blanket when he was an infant, but it is now his “blankie”. It’s soft, breathable, and keeps him warm or cool, depending on the temperature, thanks to the muslin fabric. You can read more about my experience with this blanket here.
Aden & Anais wants you to have one of their newest lines: The Muslin Sleeping Bag. Although I have not personally used this product, I know you are sure to love it. Your little one will stay cozy and safe in this adorable sleeping bag! To enter, go HERE and tell us your favorite style. The winner will be picked September 7th, 10 PM CST.

Noel & I often take on small projects, and honestly it’s hard to find one that doesn’t leave me feeling frustrated (working with a 3 year old on a project is not always easy…). Today’s project was an exception, though! We received the Funky Groovy Tie-Dye Kit from Jacquard, and Noel could. not. wait. to try it out! I had no idea he would be so interested in doing this, but he loved every second…and I will admit that although I am not the biggest fan of tie-dye, I thought Noel would really enjoy this. He loves art: painting, drawing, crafts, and when we dyed easter eggs this year, he REALLY got into it.
This kit makes tie-dyeing extremely simple, and when it comes to our projects, “Simple” is my middle name. Here’s how it went:
We found some shirts to use. We got one for each of us! The kit makes up to 5 shirts & I’m pretty sure they meant adult sizes, as we had a lot left with only 4 items.

We got them all wet with tap water, and then mixed them in a solution of soda ash in a bucket (you can use your kitchen sink-ours was just full of dishes).

Next comes the fun part…after a 20 minute soak, you take them out of the solution, set them on plastic wrap, and get to squirting:

We wrapped them individually in plastic wrap, and tomorrow we’ll wash & dry them, and post a video of the results! I can’t wait to see what they look like, and Noel keeps asking, “Is it time to wash the shirts?!?” No, son, it’s an entire 24 hours that I get to hear you ask, though…

Oh, Zutano. How I love this company. When Roo was little, all my favorite outfits of hers were mix and match Zutano. In fact, if they still made the chocolate brown kitty catwalk print and offered in her current size (5/6), I would buy the whole shebang. Geez, I would buy it in my size, too, who am I kidding? Sadly, Zutano is only for little ones, from newborns (including preemies!) through 4T.
Zutano clothes are made of comfy cotton in whimsical prints and a rainbow of colors. They are cut generously so they fit my kids for quite a while (especially petite princess Roo who could probably still fit into their 4T without looking too tawdry) and sleeves and legs can be rolled up or down to accommodate the weather and growth spurts. Zutano clothing is unbelievably soft and washes well with no pilling and very little fading.
Jasper was lucky enough to receive a couple of super cute Zutano outfits recently and the one we’ve been getting the most wear out of is the Rock Star tee and Guitar print pants. People stop us to find out where we got the pants, they are that stinking adorable… I mean cool. There was another print I was dying over, I think it was called Garage Band, but it appears to have sold out already. Tiny LPs and boomboxes, etc. I was sad they didn’t have that print in the girls’ styles. And, again, in my size. I would love to have a skirt or jumper in the guitar print or garage rock print, for sure! Jasper thinks they need more robot prints, too.
Join Zutano on Facebook or visit their retail store if you happen to be in Downtown Montpelier, Vermont!

My long time love of Zutano has grown…their newest line for Fall & Winter is right up our alley - ROCK N’ ROLL themed clothes! Yeah, you all know that I had to be ALL OVER IT! Noel & Lennon look the part of their future rockstar selves in the stereo themed pull up pants, rock star crew shirt, and “Let it Be” shirt (pictured here). Everything is so colorful and ROCKIN’! As always, Zutano products are well made, fun & unique.
Zutano says:

We have a long standing love affair with Boon. It started with the Potty Bench and the Frog Pod, but they’ve expanded their line quite extensively since then! Now they’ve got a sweet little Layette line for the wee ones. Lennon has this DNA Bodysuit, which was perfect for Summer. Now that we’re into the colder months, how about a Coverall & Hat set in Pacifier?
You might have noticed on Boon’s website, that they now offer a complete line of ergonomic cups, cutlery, and dishware, ALL of which are BpA, Phthalate, and PVC free. Does your baby need a place to sit while dining, while using all of this state-of-the-art dishware? Very soon, you will see my guest post on one of ZRecommends awesome network of blogs, Polliwogged, discussing our newest love, and excellent addition to the Boon family of products, the Flair Highchair. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s posted…and until then, help yourself to ALL of Boon’s products!
P.S. This would look pretty great next to the Frog Pod. Do I need a little girl to go with it though?

Not all genders are created equal when it comes to kids clothes. I don’t know any actual statistics, but there are far more cool clothes out there for girls than there are boys. Thank goodness for places like Georgie World that cater to the boys that need cool duds! The current collection contains items like the unbelievably adorable Holiday Outfit and the super hip Birthday Party Outfit. Noel, like any good child in our family, is proudly sporting his Tiki Shirt. Georgie has t-shirts, button downs, pants & trousers, even swimwear you’ll flip over. Shop till you drop for your boys and get the Georgie goodness!
