To the Maxx

I’ve been a regular at T.J. Maxx for years now. There are two locations in my town and it’s a good idea to hit them often since stock changes so quickly. But just because the bargains fly fast and furious doesn’t mean you won’t find good stuff on a regular basis. I love finding brand name stuff at almost absurd discounts, it makes me feel frugal even when I’m going overboard…thankfully, T.J. Maxx merchandise runs the gamut from clothing for all ages to home decor, bath and beauty products, luxury jewelry and accessories, kitchenware, toys and books, even gourmet pantry items! Unlike other discount retailers, most of the items are simply overstocked and are on-trend and in-season.

Lucky me! I was given $50 to spend at T.J. Maxx and it wasn’t hard to find things I wanted. I saw a Tokidoki laptop case, DKNY and Calvin Klein clothing for the kids, hiking socks for Bob, shoes galore. In the end, I went the selfish route and decided to buy luxury bath products and a pair of classic pumps. I was so thrilled to splurge- fancy body lotions and soap are not usually part of my budget.

Nine West high heels, Nars bath salts and lotion ($75 and $40 on their website!), Korres lotion ($15!) and a gigantic bar of Bliss Spa soap ($18!) for under fifty dollars is pretty darned good. (And, yes, I did buy more that did not get photographed. You know I can’t resist a good deal…)

I highly recommend perusing the wares at T.J. Maxx (or their sister store, Marshall’s, which apparently has an even more extensive shoe collection. Squee!) often. Are you up for some shopping this Labor Day weekend?

Invisible Stripes: Get Your Stripes On

dsc06320We love finding unique companies with a keen eye for children’s clothing.  We happened to stumble upon a company that carries interesting, cool, fun, and eye-catching duds for your little ones.  It always makes my day when people ask, “Wow, where did you find that??”  Invisible Stripes is just one of those special companies that caters to parents like us, that want their children to stand out from the crowd.  In their own words, Invisible stripes is a lifestyle boutique that carries street inspired contemporary clothing (and they do have a men’s & women’s line too!).

Invisible Stripes carries hip onesies & shoes for infants, and outerwear & t-shirts for the tots.  Noel is the proud recipient of Cheshire Toddler.  This  dsc06317-1cool cat puts on his blue stripes when he’s in contact with sunlight!  I had no idea that the shirt changed colors until I took him outside.  It’s adorable and always catches people’s eyes when they see it change from no stripes to stripes right before their very eyes (and it’s not anything like a hypercolor shirt ;) ).  Lennon’s “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” shirt is actually 3-D and came with an old school pair of 3-D glasses!  Both of my little guys look so cute in their Invisible Stripes shirts, and there are many more styles to choose from, that are perfect for gals & guys of any little age.  I’m particularly smitten with “Bird Flu” & “Hungry“, and they also have the super popular Lumberjack T’s!

Wouldn’t you LOVE one of these super cool shirts for your hip kid?  WIN IT!  Win a t-shirt + 2 50% off coupons (to give to friends (or to keep for yourself!)  Visit the Invisible Stripes website & tell us your favorite styleENTER HERE!  Contest ends September 15, 2009 at 10 PM.  For a 2nd entry, tweet me, and tell me that you’re following Invisible Stripes on Twitter as well!

U*Neaks: They’re, uh…Unique!

U*neaks are such a cute idea for a kids shoe!  It brings me back to the early days of the 80s, when I wore my Roos, except these are actually cool.  U*Neaks are a simple sneaker, but then you add the darling, dual sided socks, and voila!  They turn into a different pair of shoes with every change of socks!  They are soooooo cute!

Noel’s little Camel Revs are so adorable, with or without the super cute socks.  Roo’s got a pair too, but she refuses to wear the socks. :) However, these socks totally liven up the shoe-Change the Sock, Change the Shoe!  Fun, huh?  The socks aren’t dull either-find Skulls & Extreme Sportsfor boys, or Zebras & Leopards for girls.  There are many selections of shoes and socks for both boys and girls.

Amy and I both love the Eleven Trainers that Noel & Hailey have. These shoes are perfect for the playground, a walk, or an evening downtown! Noel is constantly getting compliments on his trainers. They catch everybody’s eye!

The Eleven Collection is the more mature and sophisticated shoe for your walker. Eleven’s not only sport the similar vibrant colors and styles that you found with See elevnKai Run, but they are also constructed with the health of your child’s feet being their top priority:

Robeez for the Weekend

We all know Robeez makes a great shoe for pre-walkers and walkers alike, and now they’ve ventured into new baby shoe territory with The Weekend Collection. I actually prefer these Robeez to the originals. I’ve got a chubby baby, and these don’t leave little red marks on his tree trunk-like ankles.

robeezYou are sure to find a pair of Robeez that will suit your style. They have designs to fit almost any personality! Check ‘em out and get your kids into some shoes that not only look great, but will make their feet happy.

*By the way…if anyone out there knows of where I can find a pair of Robeez with the Union Jack (that aren’t selling on eBay for like $40), I will heart you forever. They aren’t sold on the USA site and I could not purchase them from the AU site. Sadness!*

All those JazzyToes

jazzytoes

Who says that boys shouldn’t have cute socks too? I’ve seen all of the great girl socks out there, including my faves, the Mary Janes (which now come in rain boots?!). Finally, someone has come up with socks for cool cats as well as cool kittens! JazzyToes has so many great choices for all genders. Like the seaside look? How about that 1920s gangster look?

JazzyToes make great gifts. Know anyone that’s going to be a dad soon? Maybe put a pair of these great socks in with his tie this year! I’m sure you’ll be going to a baby shower soon…If you’re like me, you know about 1,348 women who are pregnant right now. It’s the season for babies, and every baby deserves to have the coolest socks in town!

Rain, Rain, You’re Welcome to Stay-Cool Boots for the Rain!

Given that it’s almost Summer, I might be a little behind on this, but it has been raining across the country…
If you’re going to go out in the rain, you don’t have to look sad and depressing in an old pair of black galoshes. Head over to Vincent to find the most fashionable kids rain boots around. These groovy boots are not only nice to look at, but they also have a safety reflector on the back. Safe & easy on the eye… Noel is pictured here in the GRAFFEs. I love the 60s style of these boots. If you like something a bit more traditional, take a look at the DJUNGELs or the FROGs. They’ve got lots of styles of boots that should tickle your fancy!

The big kids want great shoes too!

Robeez
RobeezWe’ve all heard about Robeez, right? The awesome, soft-soled shoes that are all the rage? They’re also featured to your left on the cute feet of Lennon in the striped pants. Those of you with new walkers have probably thought to yourselves, “I loved Robeez, but my kid has outgrown them now that he can walk!” Well, fear no more, friends! Robeez have moved beyond the house and out the door for young walkers…Robeez Tredz are the newest thing to hit the streets and everyone’s talking them up at a playground near you.

Personally, I love these shoes. Noel’s Evan’s, pictured on the legs with the “dog camo” (background), are so soft and look super comfortable. These aren’t shoes you have to “break in” or “get used to”. Noel loved them right away and was off and running in them from the first wear! They also seem to run big. He’s got a pretty big foot (8-9) and he’s still got a lot of room in these.

Don’t be sad that your baby has grown into a walker! Show him working those legs in a new pair of Robeez Tredz!
