The Leapfrog Zippity is yet another genius toy from this forward thinking company. The Zippity gets your child moving, jumping, and thinking all at the same time. The Zippity comes with 8 pre-loaded Disney-themed games, including Mickey Mouse and Little Einsteins.
The Zippity is a large pad with a big, easy to use joystick attached. The games usually begin by jumping to “start” your rocket, scooter, etc. The game will then get your child thinking by asking them to find specific things, or move to a specific color on the pad. All the games are very simple, and increase in skill as your child becomes more adept at using the Zippity.
Noel loves using the Zippity and was able to use it out of the box. The instructions are simple and walk your child through the process easily. With some initial parent set-up (again, very easy), you’ll be Zippity-ing in minutes. The Zippity will keep your children active during the long winter when it’s too cold, rainy, or snowy to go out and run around for any length of time.
If you’d like one of your own, we’ve got one to give away!

I’m very excited to share one of my finds with you, not only because I love the product, but also because it is made by one of my very oldest and dearest friends, Angie! Angie started out like any of us-a mom that needed a way to comfort her youngest son. The Octopi Baby was born.
In her own words, “The Octopi Baby Blanket was created to help Rylan learn to self-soothe himself to sleep. After many heart-breaking nights of trying the ‘cry it out method’, I made it my mission to create something that would help him make it through bed time without the anxiety and crying. His Octopi worked so well for him, my family and friends encouraged me to share my success with other parents. The Octopi Baby Blanket is designed to help your baby transition from play to sleep. The eight tactile ribbons help calm your baby with peaceful sensory activity. Your baby’s Octopi will become their familiar and comforting friend to hold and love as they drift away into peaceful sleep.”
We were also one of Angie’s very first test marketers, so we have had lots of experience with the Octopi Baby, and I will attest to the greatness of this “lovie”. Lennon loved the Octopi when he was smaller. Both of my sons have been, much to my chagrin, very into licking things when they were exploring the world as babies, and the Octopi was in his mouth all. the. time. He used the “coarser” ribbons when he was teething. The Octopi is great for babies, and quickly becomes their comfort blanket of choice. Oh, not to mention how cute, and bright, and fun they are!!!
Through May 31st, become a fan of Octopi Baby on Facebook, and you’ll be entered to win one of your very own. Trust me, my friends, these blankies are the bomb! Go here to start shopping! If you have a special request, email her, and Angie will do her best to accommodate you!

U*neaks are such a cute idea for a kids shoe! It brings me back to the early days of the 80s, when I wore my Roos, except these are actually cool. U*Neaks are a simple sneaker, but then you add the darling, dual sided socks, and voila! They turn into a different pair of shoes with every change of socks! They are soooooo cute!
Noel’s little Camel Revs are so adorable, with or without the super cute socks. Roo’s got a pair too, but she refuses to wear the socks.
However, these socks totally liven up the shoe-Change the Sock, Change the Shoe! Fun, huh? The socks aren’t dull either-find Skulls & Extreme Sportsfor boys, or Zebras & Leopards for girls. There are many selections of shoes and socks for both boys and girls.
Interested in livening up your child’s shoe & sock collection?

Have you noticed that we have another new Mum? Jaymi, better known as FlipFlopMamma, has joined the awesomeness that is MumsTheWurd! She is the bomb. Welcome her! Jaymi is another babywearing mamma of 3 cool kids that you’ll see from time to time on Mums.
While we’re on the topic of babywearing, I have to tell you about the pouch from Rockin’ Baby Sling! Well, first of all, they’re gorgeous! Secondly, all the pouches and slings are named after songs, and really good songs, at that! Check their huge selection of slings and pouches. You are bound to find one that suits your style! My issue with the pouch has always been that it seems to snug. Not the Rockin’ Baby Pouch-these slings are generously sized. My Medium/Large “I’ll Stop the World and Melt With You” fits me on the smallest setting for carrying Lennon, and on the biggest size for carrying Noel (it’s happened a couple times). Like a sling, this pouch allows you to hold your baby in a variety of ways. Find a way that is comfortable for both you, and your child, and start babywearing! Want another reason to buy from these two Rockin’ Mamas? They give 3% of their profits to Heifer International.

Do you enjoy babywearing, but find that it takes time away from doing certain things, like exercising (as if hauling around your baby isn’t exercise enough…)? Well, the gals at Chicks-n-Chickens found a way to make it easy for you to get a little workout in while cuddling on your little bundle. The Chicks Lullaby Exercises is a great way to get a little exercise for yourself, keep your baby close, and get them ready to nod off to dreamland. I’ve done Lullaby Exercises with Lennon a few times, and it was pretty great. It was a fun workout, without being too over the top. I really enjoyed the sleep set, which was very relaxing, and did indeed put Lennon right to sleep! Want to try it?

Scholastic’s Storybook Treasures is a collection of DVDs that will make you feel slightly less guilty about using the TV for a babysitter. All kidding aside, these DVDs are the closest thing you’ll find to reading aloud. The narration is slow and steady and purposeful, which is very useful to try and coax kids into reading along if you happen to have the book that it is based upon. Luckily, the titles available in Scholastic’s Storybook Treasures series are all tried and true classics. In fact, the laid-back pacing of these adaptations reminds me of the old classroom filmstrips from my youth, the ones that required you to hang on every word until the beep told you to advance the frame. Such a difference from the frenetic style of today’s action-packed cartoons!

We recently received Make Way for Ducklings…and more delightful duck stories. Robert McCloskey’s sweet story of nesting ducks always makes me smile. And Jasper especially likes this DVD since “duck” is one of the words he can say understandably. Lucky for my little duck lover, this extra-long (76 minutes!) disc also features The Story of Ping, The Ugly Duckling, and Angus and the Ducks, as well as two stories that have non-duck birds in central roles.
If you have a dog lover, Harry the Dirty Dog…and more playful puppy stories may be more your style. There are six canine-centric tales on this 73 minute DVD. Roo loves the one about Harry trying to lose his new sweater from grandma.
The Storybook Treasures DVD I enjoyed most was Where the Wild Things Are…and 5 more stories. I have long been a Maurice Sendak fan and the title story is one of my all-time favorite childrens books. There is also an adaptation of In the Night Kitchen, and I am pleased to report that Mickey’s nethers are unretouched here. (I can’t believe that some libraries censor or remove this book for full frontal nudity… geez, it’s called a penis and half the world has ‘em, right?) The other fantastic thing about this collection is the inclusion of the Nutshell Library. I love reading these to Roo and Jasper, but I must admit that the Carole King versions pretty much blow me away. Duh. I vaguely remember these songs from my youth; they were part of the Really Rosie LP. I wish I still had that!

We’ve been Noggin addicts since Roo was about Jasper’s age and we know most of its programming by heart. We were really excited when Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! came on the air. Its simple storylines and drawing style are charming and the episodes wrap up with a catchy song that showcases the moral of the story. When we received a package of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! items to review, I assumed Roo would be the one to go ga-ga over it.

She did immediately latch on to the new DVD (A Tale of Tails) but Jasper claimed the stuffed Wubbzy and electronic board book for himself. I am slightly embarrassed to report that his first recognizable utterance is very clearly “Wow! Wow!”
Roo suggested “maybe Jasper and I can share Wubbzy!” Uh, yeah, you try to wrench the little yellow guy from your baby brother. Let me know how that works for you… I think we might be better off just getting a second Wubbzy doll! Laura informs me that Noel is crazy about Wubbzy and his friends, too! You can enter to win a giant Wubbzy prize pack on YouTube in the Wubbzy Dance Contest. Just film your child’s stylin’ dance moves and upload it for your chance to win a Disco Dancing Wubbzy Doll, Wubbzy, Walden and Widget plush dolls, a collection of 6 Wubbzy books and A Tale of Tails DVD!
